A Midwinter’s Pause

A New Year’s mini-retreat for burnt out therapists in private practice

Saturday January 11, 2025,

10-2:30 pm

Christ Church Lutheran, 3244 34th Ave, Minneapolis, MN, 55406

Hey therapist. How’d your 2024 go, really?

The new year is coming, whether we like it or not. It’s been a doozy of a year (an election? Global crises? Plus all the absolute bullshit in our personal lives? Plus running a business?!!!).

Trying to be a human who stays upright and functioning is almost impossible right now, and it’s even harder for those of us providing healing space for others.

It’s time for some care for YOU.

Any of this sound familiar?

  • Feeling intense imposter syndrome, wondering if you’re a terrible therapist, or if you’re even helping your clients at all

  • Considering quitting being a therapist and daydreaming about working at Trader Joe’s

  • Feeling irrationally angry or checked out with clients, and feeling guilty or ashamed when you feel this way

  • Struggling financially and wondering if you can keep doing this when you feel like you’re bleeding dry

  • Coming home and mindlessly scrolling because you have nothing left to give after an entire day of giving to others

  • Feeling like your relationships are suffering, and you don’t have time for the things that give you joy, like hobbies and friends

  • Feeling isolated and alone without colleagues around you and regular connection to other therapists

Maybe you’re also:

  • Feeling strained by trying to care for your clients, when you yourself aren’t getting enough support

  • Feeling like a fraud for trying to help your clients with issues you definitely haven’t figured out yourself

  • Not having spaces where you can be messy and show how hard this work is to keep doing over and over again

  • Considering signing up for yet another professional training so you don’t feel so ineffective at what you do

  • Not feeling burnt out but definitely crispy - you’re needing some care and space to receive

I designed this mini-retreat for YOU.

We won’t be focusing on SKILLS. I truly believe you already have everything you need to be an amazing therapist.

What is missing from your practice and from our field is a space for you to feel held in deep community and be witnessed.

Instead of teaching you self-care or some new clinical skill, we will focus on building genuine connections with one another and creating a space to CRY, RAGE, and just BE REAL about how hard this work is.

This space is designed to create intentional connections between participants and within yourself.

Together we will shake off the exhaustion and remember the JOY and CONNECTION that is possible in this work of caring for humans.

Wait, but who am I?

Hi! I’m Sarah Lazarewicz (she/her), MSW, LICSW:

  • I’m a licensed social worker, a fellow therapist, and have been running my own private practice since 2022. I graduated in 2016 and have been a full time therapist since 2018.

  • I’ve experienced first hard how isolating and weird this world of running a private practice can be, and how exhausting and overwhelming it can feel to do it alone.

  • I’m invested in creating spaces where therapists can be fully human and express their authentic selves with other therapists, without judgement or shame.

  • I believe we need each other to do this work, and I’m committed to reaching for and building community care spaces for therapists.

  • I’m creating this because it’s something I want and need too, and I believe it’s a missing piece in our field and profession.
